Health Fair and Stitch-n-Pitch Pattern

Three  things to talk about today.

First, we still have spots available for mammograms during the Health Fair on August 22 and 23. We can't stress enough the importance of having a mammogram! We have so many friends and family members who have been saved by early detection. If you have never had a mammogram - fear not! We are here to hold your hand both literally and figuratively.

My second topic is the lovely Ruth Sorensen Noro kits we have made up for Stitch-n-Pitch! Ruth has come up with 6 new and exclusive patterns for us using the new Noro Kureyon Sock yarn - 3 different bags and wrist warmers. For those of you who are not familiar with Ruth, she designed many of the VERY popular patterns using Kauni and Evilla yarns.

And speaking of Kauni - our very own Joni has designed something special for Stich-n-Pitch using this great yarn. Be sure to stop by and get your copy!

Odds and Ends

Some little news tidbits:

1] The new camera has arrived!! Silly thing is, my daughter just got a new camera - same make, different model - and I'm spoiled by how fabulous hers is! (Hers is 7.1 mega pixels and ours only 5.) I've christened our camera "Hermie" (not sure why) and am testing her out today.

2] The Stitch 'n Pitch people sent the needle cases that come with the tickets. We thought that they would be handed out at the park. So, if you bought tickets from us, please come by our table at the game so we can give you your case!

3] Spots for our Woman's Health Fair mammograms are starting to fill up. Call us ASAP to make your appointment. There is a fabulous goodie bag for anyone who signs up!

Here is Hermie's first photo. What a surprise - it's Noro!

Interweave Felt Magazine

Interweave has a new special issue devoted entirely to felting! We just got it today. Most of the items are very nice but a couple are just freaky (like the vase for a hat item, or the escape pod.) The nice thing is that they cover a lot of different felting methods and have some good photo instructions.

Speaking of felting, I have about 8 ArtFelt projects in the works that I must get done. I'm really enjoying it but I have to use the washer and there is some sort of force field surrounding that part of my basement that repels me when I get too close. Weird, huh?

And just a reminder - Stitch-n-Pitch is coming up and we have tickets for sale! Tickets! Get your tickets here!

Sugar 'n Cream and Stitch-n-Pitch

(I wanted to title this entry "The Ns" but I thought it would be too vague...)

I know, I know....Sugar'n Cream would not be considered by many to be blog-worthy but I think the new Twist version is cute. The literature (okay, "literature" might be too strong a word) that came with it shows some things made up with it and I think it looks nice - kind of tweedy and natural. I've also decided to remake my market bag out of the regular Sugar'n Cream in some summery colors (they don't make the yarn I originally used anymore). I should have made the base out of the yellow and the body out of the variegated but I'm too lazy to rip it out. Next time. I'm also going to make one with the organic cotton and the hemp, just for variety. I can usually crank a bag out in a few hours - I'm a fast crocheter. BTW, I'll be teaching two separate classes in how to make crochet market bags. Check the website for dates and times.

Onto another topic entirely, Stich-n-Pitch tickets are here! Get them while they're hot. The game is Thursday, July 26th, 2007 - 7:05 p.m. We close early that day so we can get down there and get set up. I can't remember how early they open up so you can shop before the game but I think it's around 5ish. I'm also not sure if you pick up your free gift here or at the game this time. It's a needlecase this year! Even if you don't care for baseball, this is a fun event. There are lots of vendors from all over the area - it's kind of like a reverse LYS tour! There's a lot to do during the game if you get bored; lots of food, lots of giveaways....just lots of stuff.

UPDATE: Here is a little washrag I made from the pattern on the label of the Twist:
