Spin Doctor

Yep, this is me.....spinning on a wheel! (A Louët Victoria, to be exact.) I finally bit the bullet and sat myself down to learn. There were several spinners (pushers) in the shop on Saturday, all eager to help me with this new addiction. Kathy (hope it's with a K, not a C!), one of Elaine's previous pupils, took on the challenge. There was some cussin' and a spittin' at first but I eventually got the hang of it. Yahoo! Now I can finally ply all of that yarn I made with my drop spindle!

Odds and Ends

Some little news tidbits:

1] The new camera has arrived!! Silly thing is, my daughter just got a new camera - same make, different model - and I'm spoiled by how fabulous hers is! (Hers is 7.1 mega pixels and ours only 5.) I've christened our camera "Hermie" (not sure why) and am testing her out today.

2] The Stitch 'n Pitch people sent the needle cases that come with the tickets. We thought that they would be handed out at the park. So, if you bought tickets from us, please come by our table at the game so we can give you your case!

3] Spots for our Woman's Health Fair mammograms are starting to fill up. Call us ASAP to make your appointment. There is a fabulous goodie bag for anyone who signs up!

Here is Hermie's first photo. What a surprise - it's Noro!

Guess what!

More Noro has arrived!!!! Several new colors of Silk Garden arrived and a beautimus neutral colorway in both Silk Garden and Kureyon. I'm still without a camera (heavy sigh) but I did manage to find a picture of one of the nice Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton patterns that calls for Silk Garden. We also received our sample garment using the new Niji yarn from Noro but we haven't received any of the yarn yet. I tried it on and it is was very comfy.

Harry Potter Knit Nite

We had LOADS of fun at this month's Knit Nite. We had several items made from the new Charmed Knits Rock Cakes (small current scones), and most book as well as lots of Hogwarts goodies. Thanks go out to Tava for help with the set-up, bringing in some of the treats, and for taking all the pictures! We had Butter Beer (cream soda with a dollop of butterscotch topping), Licorice wands, Haggrid'simportantly - Bernie Botts Every Flavored Beans. For those of you who know nothing about HP Cuisine, the candy beans have flavors like earwax, boogers, rotten eggs, etc. Here is a picture of me trying the black pepper bean:

Some came in costume:

Some brought awesome HP projects to work on like this Dark Mark Scarf:

More yummy Sea Silk

We now have 400 meter skeins of the Fleece Artist Sea Silk in lots of colors (mostly Hand Maiden colorways). I'd show you a picture of our stash but I am sans camera! VC is on vacation and had the nerve to take her camera with her! Some people. The color swatch here is from the Fleece Artist site and is called Rain Forest. It might have to come home with me - the yarn, not the swatch.

Interweave Felt Magazine

Interweave has a new special issue devoted entirely to felting! We just got it today. Most of the items are very nice but a couple are just freaky (like the vase for a hat item, or the escape pod.) The nice thing is that they cover a lot of different felting methods and have some good photo instructions.

Speaking of felting, I have about 8 ArtFelt projects in the works that I must get done. I'm really enjoying it but I have to use the washer and there is some sort of force field surrounding that part of my basement that repels me when I get too close. Weird, huh?

And just a reminder - Stitch-n-Pitch is coming up and we have tickets for sale! Tickets! Get your tickets here!
