Health Fair and Stitch-n-Pitch Pattern

Three  things to talk about today.

First, we still have spots available for mammograms during the Health Fair on August 22 and 23. We can't stress enough the importance of having a mammogram! We have so many friends and family members who have been saved by early detection. If you have never had a mammogram - fear not! We are here to hold your hand both literally and figuratively.

My second topic is the lovely Ruth Sorensen Noro kits we have made up for Stitch-n-Pitch! Ruth has come up with 6 new and exclusive patterns for us using the new Noro Kureyon Sock yarn - 3 different bags and wrist warmers. For those of you who are not familiar with Ruth, she designed many of the VERY popular patterns using Kauni and Evilla yarns.

And speaking of Kauni - our very own Joni has designed something special for Stich-n-Pitch using this great yarn. Be sure to stop by and get your copy!

Evilla has arrived

After a long journey across the ocean, and many weeks of waiting, Evilla has finally crossed our door and lept on to our shelves.

Oh my. I've latched on to colorway A-66. Grey, lime-green, brown, purple. So, so pretty.

What is Evilla? It's another yarn that comes from Estonia. We heard about it when Ruth Sorensen was here in February. There are two types that we are carrying: the 8/2 or shetland weight, and the preyarn, which is an unspun "yarn" that you can either spin finer or knit at a worsted gauge. It's also supposed be great for fulled items - bags, mittens and the like.

Right now, we are apparently the only shop in the US carrying this line - come in and get yours!

Madrona: Pre-Day 1

Actually, let me start with the night before Pre-Day 1. We had a wonderful night with Ruth Sorensen when we took her out to dinner at Scott's. She is really sweet and looking forward to teaching and learning at Madrona. This is her first visit to the US and she wanted to have a typical American meal. She ordered Cowboy steak!

The next day we made our way - cars packed to the hilt - to the Hotel Murano in Tacoma. We unpacked what we thought was a lot of yarn, until we saw how much some of the other shops had brought. Holy smokes! Lots of cool stuff. Can't wait for opening day. So much yarn, so little time.

On our continuing quest to treat Ruth to Americana, we took her to an Irish Pub for dinner where she dined on roasted lamb and champ (a potato dish). Okay, so how is an Irish Pub American? It isn't, really, but they don't have them in Denmark so at least she got to experience a different culture. ;-)
