June Knit Nite

June 6 Knit Nite
6 - 9 pm

Your head will be spinning this month at Knit Night when Joni brings her fibery toys to tempt all you knitters who have thought about spinning but haven't tried it yet! You'll get a chance to see a wheel, two kinds of charkhas and several spindle types in action and you can get an impromptu spindling lesson if you're brave! If the mesmerizing whirling hypnotizes you, there will be classes this summer to turn you permanently dizzy!

Harry Potter Knit Nite

We had LOADS of fun at this month's Knit Nite. We had several items made from the new Charmed Knits Rock Cakes (small current scones), and most book as well as lots of Hogwarts goodies. Thanks go out to Tava for help with the set-up, bringing in some of the treats, and for taking all the pictures! We had Butter Beer (cream soda with a dollop of butterscotch topping), Licorice wands, Haggrid'simportantly - Bernie Botts Every Flavored Beans. For those of you who know nothing about HP Cuisine, the candy beans have flavors like earwax, boogers, rotten eggs, etc. Here is a picture of me trying the black pepper bean:

Some came in costume:

Some brought awesome HP projects to work on like this Dark Mark Scarf:

Knit Nite Food Drive

Last Knit Nite we asked our customers to bring in food stuffs for an emergency food drive for the Ronald McDonald House and we had a fantastic turnout. We were able to donate over $600 worth of food and other necessities! Because we were so successful, we were asked to do the same for another worthy group, Hopelink.

The Hopelink Shoreline serves low income residents of Shoreline and Lake Forest Park. Services available include regular food banks, eviction prevention, energy assistance, holiday gift rooms, school supplies, emergency financial assistance, Basic Food (food stamp) education and outreach, literacy, ESL classes, and family development case management. (The kids that benefit from this service are often the kids that receive free lunch during the school year.)

They are currently in need of the following items:
Canned Fruit
Plain Rice and Grains
Canned Beans (Chickpeas, Kidney Beans, etc.)
Dry Beans
Peanut Butter
Tuna

Bring in any of these items for donation to this Friday's Nite Knit (June 1, 2007) and we will enter your name into a drawing for a door prize.
